The truth is, it's easy to float along. There are enough systems in place that by doing very little, we can fall snug into a path that will take us to some place or other. We could follow the current. Go where we end up and be real comfy doing it.
But think about it. If you're not pushing yourself along, what's taking you places? Who's nudging you into place? And what the heck do they know better than you?
You see, if you aren't your main driving force, you aren't living, well, your life. You become a product of circumstance. Luck. Mediocrity. And while that can work out for some people, do you really want to take a chance?
What was that? Hell no? Yeah, thought so.
You want to rule the world, don't you. You want to call your own shots. You want to be inspired. You want to think about something, turn around and make it happen. You want to be a fire-breathing, problem-sapping beast.
You've come to the right place. Let's get thinking.
1. What do you want?
If you don't know what you want, it's not going to fall into your lap. Pick something. Pick it apart. Why do you want it? Are your reasons valid? Choose a big goal, then set milestones. Portion out more than you can chew, but break it up into bite-size pieces.
2. What's in your way?
Note your good days. Understand your bad days. What slows you down? There's a pattern there, somewhere. You've got a mind built to find it. Use it.
3. How do you slaughter it?
Everyone has their own strange way of getting by, but it does help to see what works for other people. Observe your surroundings. Go to a gym at five in the morning and ask the nut jobs how they do it. Ask your fire-breathing boss how he handles fear. Surround yourself with people and things that keep you in focus. Track your progress. Read our blog.
In the end, though, nothing works like experience. Throw yourself out there, try, fail, try, fail, and never be daunted.
