Most of us know it as "the internet." Others as "the cloud" or "web." Your dad might call it "the world wide web." Admittedly, I sometimes think of it as "the Google." No matter what we call it, most of us have only a basic understanding of what the internet is and how it works. Have you ever thought about what it looks like? Timo Arnall set out to satisfy this curiosity in his project "Internet Machine" for Big Bang Data. The answer is a little eerie, and really cool.
Here's a look at what he found -- Telefónica, a data center in Alcalá, Spain. It's 65,700 square meters and responsible for much of Europe’s cloud computing services.
