It's impossible to deny it. Winners usually win for a reason. Maybe 7-Eleven is cheaper than that local corner store. Maybe you're a sucker for membership cards. Or perhaps you're worn out and McDonald's is the only drive-thru option on your lunch break. Whatever the reason may be, it goes without saying that the guys in charge are usually there for a reason -- they've got a way to keep us coming. But that can have it's drawbacks.
Unlike my local corner store, 7-Eleven cashiers don't pester me to buy their freshly baked cookies at the checkout counter. I don't know about you, but my response to cookies and anyone's attempts to share them is generally positive.
Avis might have put it best when they said, “When you're only No.2, you try harder. Or else.”
In a society increasingly focused on convenience and ease, things like authenticity and quality can often go overlooked. At WORK, we're no stranger to the value of the underdog. And as far as keeping things real, and good – it's what we're constantly striving to do.
The big guys know how to appeal to the masses, consistently. But it's up to the rest of us to find new, different, and well...better ways to do things.
So don't forget the little guys. Get your lunch from the nearest food truck. Accept homemade cookies. Remember that there are a million and one ways to do something, and try as many as you can.
