Something you probably don’t know about part of the WORK Labs staff is that we’ve got a pretty strong New Jersey background. Well, specifically, Jen and I are both from New Jersey. So I was asking Jen if she ever knew about these dinosaurs near Freehold (yes, the one Bruce Springsteen is from) that were made from old car parts. It was something that I remembered always driving by and you could see them from the highway. I think in kindergarten or first grade, my class took a field trip there as well. It was such an overwhelming experience, being 3 feet tall and standing next to a dinosaur that’s 25 feet tall. It’s one of those memories that is so surreal it almost seems like it must have been a dream. But either way, after a few minutes on Google, I found Jim Gary’s Dinosaurs. These have to be it. The only one I vaguely remember is the last one, because I think you could actually see that from the highway. But, really, how many people in central NJ in the mid-eighties were making dinosaurs out of old car parts? I’m posting a few resources here for you to check out, because these dinosaurs are awesome. First is a blog called Lost In Jersey, which is where most of these snapshots are from, the photos link to that. The second is what I believe was Gary’s actual website. And finally, Jim Gary on Wikipedia. I could go on to tell you all about him, but I’d just be repeating what all the other sites say, so check them out.
